2nd Annual Dream Serenade – Second Artist Announcement

You already know that Hayden and Joel Plaskett will be performing at this year’s annual Dream Serenade. This week, we add to the line up a new project from a group of Canadian Indie Scene powerhouses alongside one of the brightest and buzziest up and comers in the Scene this year: TUNS and The Weather Station.

The Weather Station is Tamara Linderman, whose intimate, elegant, understated yet intense folk music has won over critics and crowds: Hearing her 2015 album Loyalty, a collaboration with Bahamas, Pitchfork called her voice “unmistakable” and Rolling Stone used the words “rare beauty” to describe the music. TUNS is something of an East-Coast supergroup; the trio is comprised of members of three of Halifax’s most important rock and roll sons: Mike O’Neill (The Inbreds), Matt Murphy (Super Friendz) and Chris Murphy.

Dream Serenade is an annual concert organized by Toronto musician Hayden and his wife, Christie Greyerbiehl, that brings together a curated mix of musicians for unique performances to benefit special-needs children and their families. This year’s event at Massey Hall is on October 17, 2015. Line-up announcements roll out over the coming weeks, but in the meantime, check out Exclaim! Magazine’s 10/10 review of last year’s event, which raised over $100,000 for Beverley Street School and the creation of a Family Relief Fund, and this video from last year, when a few of the Dream Serenade gang – Sarah Harmer, The Barenaked Ladies, Lou Canon and Hayden – visited the Beverley Street School.
