Lyrics:
Mingus

The funeral home director was a jealous man
He called his wife’s work everyday the same time
But on the twelfth of August the phone never rang
And that was the day she left him – or so he’d say

The police became suspicious when her sister called
To say she thought the husband was involved
And he broke down under questioning and he told
The story of the week before – and here’s how it goes:

‘She was gonna leave me but I couldn’t let go
As I need her more than anything that I’ve known
And I lost control for a second then I thought
Of her being free – then me not getting caught

Then I stabbed her several times in the chest
And I kept her body cold for the rest of that week
Until the closed casket service of an old woman from around here
With my wife underneath’
I can't believe how one thing changes everything and nothing will ever be the same again.
